Be very careful to only use the official government website at https://visas.immigration.go.ug/. There are fraudulent sites that are designed to look legitimate but will overcharge you or steal your information. The official application process has four steps, while fake sites often have only three.
🗺️ Visa Types and Fees
Choose the type of visa that matches your travel plans. Here are the most common ones:
Uganda Ordinary/Tourist Visa ($50 USD): This is a single-entry visa valid for 90 days. It’s the standard choice for tourism, business, or visiting family.
East Africa Tourist Visa ($100 USD): This is a multiple-entry visa that allows travel between Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda for up to 90 days. A key rule is that you must enter the region through the country that issued the visa.

Passport Copy: A clear scan of the bio-data page. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from your planned entry date.

🚀 Step-by-Step Application Process
Start Application: Go to the official portal and select the correct visa type, category, and subcategory.
Complete the Form: Fill out the online application form accurately.
Upload Documents: Attach all the required documents listed above.
Pay the Fee: Pay the visa fee securely online using a credit or debit card (Visa or MasterCard). The fee is non-refundable.
Submit and Track: Submit your application and note the application number. You will receive a notification email.
Wait for Approval: The typical processing time is 2 to 3 working days, but it’s best to apply at least 5 working days (or even 2 weeks) before travel to account for any delays.
Get Approval Letter: If approved, you will receive an Approval Letter via email. This is your travel authorization.
Print and Travel: Print this letter and present it, along with your passport and other documents, at the port of entry in Uganda. A visa sticker will then be placed in your passport.
